Bonville Golf Resort is recognised as one of the world’s most beautiful golf courses and consistently voted as the most beautiful in Australia.

We are the only 4 time winner of Australia’s Leading Golf Resort by the World Travel Awards and have been voted as ‘Australia’s Favourite Golf Course’ in the Golf Australia Magazine 50 Favourite Golf Courses poll for the last 7 years running.

Given this, along with our ideal position halfway between Sydney & Brisbane and Coffs Harbour’s great climate, quality health, retail and educational facilities (airport, schools and major hospital) and beautiful coastline, all makes living in Coffs Harbour and working at Bonville Golf Resort, an appealing opportunity.

A vacancy now exists for an experienced and motivated individual that will be responsible for the hands on, daily servicing and maintenance programme for our broad inventory of modern turf and specialised golf course equipment; general workshop duties and some on course Greenkeeping duties as required.

This position would suit a candidate with previous golf course mechanic experience or someone with high level mechanical knowledge, that also has a keen interest in golf and/or turf.

The successful applicant must have experience with petrol and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and welding experience. Mechanical qualifications, fabrication skills and turf experience will be highly regarded but are not essential.

A current NSW Drivers license and own transport is a must.

Reporting to the Golf Course Superintendent, key responsibilities of the Head Mechanic include:

  • Implements and maintains a preventative maintenance program on all equipment
  • Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in many types of golf course maintenance machinery and equipment and schedules appropriate preventative maintenance work
  • Performs mower grinding/sharpening

  • Performs machining or welding work in making fittings used in repair of maintenance equipment
  • Maintains accurate records of preventative maintenance, repairs made, parts ordered
  • Helps to control costs and expenses
  • Incorporates safe work practices into daily job performance and maintains a clean and safe workshop
  • Performs other duties as required

The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong work ethic and have well developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with colleagues and guide staff in the safe and efficient use of plant and equipment operation.

They will work autonomously, having the ability to work unsupervised, effectively managing their own time, and be able to prioritise and multitask. No two days are the same so they will like the variety this role provides.

This position is available as casual, part time or full-time, depending on the successful candidate’s availability and needs. Please state your preference when applying and indicate preferred days of work.

Applicants will need to be physically fit, with the ability to lift heavy tools and equipment, stand, walk, bend and reach for long periods. Uniforms are supplied and onsite parking is available. An attractive salary will be offered, commensurate with experience.
