Bonville Golf Resort lady members played their 2017 Foursomes Championships on Tuesday.

The ladies took to their home course to contest the 2017 trophy with 2016 champions Machelle Nichol and Janette Curran the ones to watch, the pair teaming up once again to take a run at the title.

The winning combination of Pam Rooney and Sandra Lawrence who finished with a gross score of 92 across the 18-hole event were too good for closest rivals Machelle Nicol and Janette Curran. “We just played consistently well all day” said Pam who plays off a handicap of 17. “We came to the 17th and hit our tee shot over the back of the green to finish with a bogey, but knew all we had to do was par the 18th hole to finish somewhere near the top” Pam added shortly after she landed a ball just centimetres from the hole off a 30 metre chip shot to the 18th green.

It was a strategic approach that seems to have set the winning team apart. “I’m the bigger hitter so I teed off the 1st meaning I could take tee shots off several of the longer and more challenging holes” Pam said. “We’re both very excited to have won the 2017 trophy and we’re looking forward to backing it up in 2018”
