Bonville Golf Resort has been ranked alongside many of our nation’s best hotels and resorts over the decades, the property famous for its superb golfing experience, it’s food, weddings and events and customer service. But Bonville also pays special attention to its membership base each year on Member’s Appreciation Day. Members are given a first class experience on Members Appreciation Day with their golf, food and beverage and prizes all provided free of charge as a way for Bonville Golf Resort to show their appreciation for the ongoing support of members. The food and beverage is not limited to the clubhouse either, with chef cooked Garlic and Chilli Prawns with Angel Hair pasta being served on the 4th tee, Chorizo based mini hotdogs with condiments served on the 17th hole and mouth watering profiteroles with Chocolate Custard on the 11th hole. Matching beverages were also offered at the food stops. Post golf celebrations included over $2500 worth of prizes being awarded whilst the members enjoyed canapes and beverages, all served on the Terrace Lawn. To ensure that all of the members had a wonderful experience, they were all given a gift bag on departure which included a personalised Bonville logoed golf bag tag. Each player also received a bottle of St Hallett’s Butchers Cart Shiraz – a wonderful drop which Bonville are using throughout 2017 as their ‘25th Anniversary’ celebration wine.
Murray Robertson put a mark on the 2017 event playing possibly the round of his life. Playing off a handicap of 9, Murray shot an amazing round of four under par 68 giving him 49 Stableford points. He puts the game down to his putting on the day. “It was the putter, I had been putting terribly for quite some time then I borrowed a putter (a centre shaft) which proved to be the difference.” Said Murray. One of the highlights for Murray was playing so well alongside his father Bill Robertson who was the club professional at Coffs Harbour Golf Club for 29 years.
It was a shotgun start and Murray opened his round with a birdie on the 8th and finished with 4 consecutive birdies on holes 4, 5, 6 and 7. The round is arguably the best Stableford round recorded in Bonville’s 25-year history. Murray was seen conversing with Phil Atkin later in the night as Phil recounted the fading memories of his oft mentioned 51 points from yesteryear, shot by shot.
