Set your alarm and get ready for a big weekend of golf ahead at Bonville Golf Resort. As the worlds best professional golfers set their sights on the green jacket at the prestigious US Masters at Augusta National in Georgia USA, the much likened ‘Australia’s Augusta’, Bonville Golf Resort is set to produce some hot golfing action of it’s own.

The frenzy of activity will kick off with a members only tournament spanning two days on Friday and Saturday where players pick one player from the US Masters field to become their partner for the tournament. The competition will be played as an Aggregate Stableford in a ‘US Masters Fantasy’ type format combining players scores with those of their partner on that day’s round at the US Masters. The best aggregate score over either day will decide the winner giving players two chances to win should they compete on both days. To make the tournament even more interesting, players will compete to win one of 3 very special Official US Masters prizes including a limited edition, (1 of 200) US Masters V3 Bushnell distance finder, A US Masters money clip and a US Masters golf cap only available for purchase from the Augusta pro shop.

Saturday night marks the official 25th birthday celebration for the iconic property. Members, staff and guests will enjoy a celebratory dinner showcasing local produce on the Terrace Lawn overlooking the 18th green. Marketing Manager. Christopher Winn said “The event celebrates a rich 25 year history but really highlights the beginning of the next 25 year chapter here at Bonville”. Local band The Funk Thieves will offer their unique blend of reggae rock, funk and disco tunes throughout the evening.

The tall trees isolating the fairways and the endless banks of Azaleas at Bonville make it easy to see the comparison to Augusta National. Bonville Golf Resort members celebrate the final day of the US Masters with the long standing Mad Masters Monday, an annual event that has been running since 2001 starting at 5.00am. Members arrive to watch the final round of the US Masters.

Whilst watching the golf, players indulge in a chef cooked breakfast before heading out for a shotgun start of 18 holes of golf playing the golf course setup in “Augusta Mode” with fast greens and intimidating flag positions. The Bonville course and Clubhouse mimic certain aspects of Augusta for this event with sectors such as ‘Amen Corner’, ‘Magnolia Lane’ and ‘Butler Cabin’ signposted along the course. A special prize is up from grabs for the player posting the best combined score across holes 10, 11 and 12 which will form the infamous ‘Amen Corner’. Members end the day with a lunch overlooking the 18th hole and presentation including 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes, all of which come direct from Augusta, as well as nearest the pin prizes and longest drive.

The day’s winner is presented with the coveted Bonville ‘Mad Masters’ Jacket which is a play on the ‘green jacket’ presented to the winner of the US Masters. Last year’s winner presents the jacket to the new champion which wraps up the event.
