July 5, 2017

Local Sharp Shooter Gio Zugajev has finished in the winners circle at the Men’s Bonville Cup fending off challengers from both New South Wales and Queensland in the 36-hole competition held across 2 days. The Coffs Coast turned on the sunshine for 144 golfers who made their way to Bonville to contest the prestigious amateur event. The multi format competition is played out across two divisions where division 1 contested two rounds of stroke play. Zugajev shot even par rounds of 72 each day, cementing the second days score with 14 pars, 2 birdies and narrowly missing a putt for birdie on the 18the which would have put him 1 under the card for the day. “Over the two-day period I just played really solid. I hit greens and kept the ball on the fairway. When the pressure was on, on the 2nd day I managed to make some clutch up and downs which kept the momentum going.” Said Zugajev.

Zugajev posted an aggregate Gross score of 144 for the tournament and took home a Titleist golf bag together with his name on the 2017 trophy, and the honour board for his efforts remarking at his win during the presentation “It’s really nice to win a tournament at your home course and brilliant to showcase Bonville to our visitors.”
