As Coffs Harbour prepares to welcome song writing great Elton John this month, fellow countryman and English golfing hall of famer Dame Laura Davies arrives to contest her third Geoff King Motors Australian Ladies Classic at Bonville Golf Resort. The 56-year-old who is always a crowd favourite at Bonville will put the rookies through their paces on the championship course.
Dame Laura has made the cut on both occasions she has played at Bonville finishing in 16th place in 2018 and 69th last year.
The four-time major winner boasts career earning of over $3.2 million and has won 84 tournaments around the world. She says a down-to-earth attitude and a swing easy approach to the game is what keeps her going.
“I just play golf, I love the competition,” she said.
“For me, the pleasure begins on Thursday morning when a tournament starts. I come along and try to win. And that’s what I enjoy.”
The 2020 Geoff King Motors Australian Ladies Classic Bonville will feature some of the best female golfing talent in the world including Rookie of the Year Esther Henseleit, Solheim Cup winner Anne Van Dam, 2019 NSW Open winner Meghan MacLaren, 2019 defending champion Marianne Skarpnord and returning Aussie Sarah Kemp.
Tournament rounds will tee off on 20th February following a Pro-Am event on 19th. Players making the cut will contest final rounds on Saturday 22nd and 23rd to decide a winner.
